Colour is a complex topic with many variables, it is also an important topic for Cosmetic Tattooists and this series of articles will attempt to demystify the subject and will focus on content that will assist technicians to achieve better outcomes.

Occasionally you may encounter a middle aged client who presents for Cosmetic Tattooing with almost complete loss of hair in their outer eyebrows (often the outer 1/3). If there appears to be no obvious reason for the loss of hair (e.g. over plucking or injury) then consider the possibility that the client may be suffering from a thyroid condition in particular a hypothyroid disorder (under production of the thyroid gland).

Clients/Patients who have darker skin tones may be more susceptible to a condition called Post Inflammatory Hyper-pigmentation or PIH for short. Clients who have or may develop PIH have hyperactive melanocyte cells in their skin.
